Water Restrictions

Although Florida is surrounded by water, rain supplies the vast majority of the water that we depend upon. Due to rainfall amounts far below normal in 2006 and 2007, water levels in important storage and recharge areas (such as Lake Okeechobee ) have fallen to record lows. The resulting water shortage has led the South Florida Water Management District to enact water use restrictions for the first time since 2001. What does this mean for you?  The resources contained on this page can help to answer many of the questions you may have regarding current restrictions and ways that you can help to conserve water.
